“Feminity” Selected for Regards d’Iran

The short animation The Route, directed by Babak Beigi, has been selected as one of the 26 finalists at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2025 (TAAF2025).

The documentary Feminity, directed by Mohsen Ostad Ali, has been officially selected for the main section of Regards d’Iran 2023, a renowned festival dedicated to Iranian documentary and independent cinema. Taking place from February 3 to 5, 2023, in Paris, France, the festival serves as a significant platform for showcasing Iranian films to international audiences. The film follows the lives of five women residing in a women’s shelter in southwestern Tehran, exploring their struggles and aspirations for a better future. Previously, Feminity has been screened at prestigious festivals such as the Kolkata International Film Festival, Salerno Film Festival, and London International Documentary Festival. The film’s international distribution is managed by Raft Films, ensuring its continued presence at major global festivals.

The documentary “Feminity“, directed by Mohsen Ostad Ali and produced by Alireza Alavian, has been officially selected for the main section of the Regards d’Iran 2023 film festival. This festival, which runs from February 3 to 5, 2023, in Paris, France, is considered one of the most significant showcases of Iranian documentary cinema in Europe.

The film follows the lives of five women named Sanaz, Saedeh, Tala, Ladan, and Beheshteh, each facing unique challenges. However, they all share one thing in common: they reside in a women’s shelter in the southwestern part of Tehran. Now, they all have the same goal: to improve their lives, even if just a little.

Regards d’Iran is one of the key European platforms for showcasing Iranian documentary cinema. Held annually in Paris, the festival provides a space for the finest Iranian documentaries, fostering dialogue between filmmakers and international audiences.

Before Regards d’Iran, “Feminity” had already been screened at several renowned international film festivals. In 2021, it was featured at the Kolkata, Salerno, and London Documentary Film Festivals, and in 2022, it was selected for the Life After Oil Festival. These international screenings have helped the film gain recognition among critics and audiences alike.
